How to Extend The Service Life of Forming Fabric?

Polyester forming fabric is a commonly used water filter mesh in the molding part of paper machines. In the past, copper mesh and polyester forming fabric were commonly used, and the forming fabric was mainly woven from polyester monofilaments.

In order to increase the service life of the forming fabric, some manufacturers add more wear-resistant "nylon monofilament" weaving at intervals in the weft. Extending the service life of the forming fabric is of great significance for reducing paper production costs. The following are some effective experiences summarized in the actual operation of paper machines for reference.

1. The components of the fourdriner paper machine must be accurately aligned and in good mechanical condition;

All water filtration components must be securely fastened and at the same height;

Check that the tension roll and automatic tension adjustment device cannot bounce up;

2. Poor cleaning and daily maintenance of mesh cases is a major reason for the shortened lifespan of the forming fabric;

(a) Ensure that no fiber accumulation forms clumps that fall into the inner side of the forming fabric;

(b) Keep the doctor blade in good condition;

To prevent the accumulation of pulp on the guide roll and breast roll;

The first outer roll is crucial to prevent the forming fabric from being damaged by pulp blocks;

The angle of the doctor blade (about 25-30 degrees) is crucial for ensuring proper wiping without producing scraping sounds or jumping;

The load of a doctor blade needs to be repeatedly tested, but overloading must be avoided;

Swinging is a good warning for any and all doctor blades;

Regularly check the breast roll doctor blade to avoid causing mesh marks or excessive water on the breast roll;

(c) Check the holes in the water tray, rusted bolts or spray valves;

Uneven water flow around the spray valve may cause metal to peel off and break, and flow through the spray pipe;

3. Eliminate abrasive fillers, such as calcium sulfate;

4. Check the trajectory, calibration, tension, load and slip of the forming fabric;

Ensure even lateral tension of the paper machine;

Do not operate the forming fabric in a too relaxed state;

5. Maintain the spray water temperature and PH value consistent with the pulp;

Ensure that the spray water pipes on both sides are not blocked;

6. Use a low friction coefficient vacuum suction box on the upper surface;

Check if the surface of the vacuum suction box is flat;

7. Reduce the number of vacuum suction box and increase the number of openings;

Reduce the vacuum degree to prevent the forming fabric from getting stuck or blocked on the vacuum suction box;

8. Remove coarse sand from the pulp (centrifugal impurity cleaner);

Check whether there are scratches and burrs on the surface of the forming board , vacuum suction box, and suction box cover;

9. Use a net lifespan extender (mesh cleaner);

10. Adequate traction should be provided to ensure that the net does not slip at the breast roll;

11. Operate at the minimum vacuum level specified in the operating procedures for the suction box;

Ensure that the water flow can freely enter the water seal box from the suction box;

12. Check the installation of the forming board to ensure sufficient space for uniform and minimal breast roll drainage;

13. Check the cleanliness of the wire turning roller system;

Check the doctor blade, rubber tube, spray water, bearings, and excessive spray water pressure;

14. Check the wear marks on the edge fixing device or the cheek plate of the pulp box to determine if it is installed too low.

Hope those above methods will help you to extend the service life of your forming fabric.
