Paper Machine Dryer Fabric


Contact drying is the main drying method of paper machines, and the pressure mesh drying area is the most important drying area of each dryer, with the highest heat transfer and evaporation water. Therefore, as the medium between the paper web and the dryer, the choice of dryer fabric directly affects the drying efficiency and paper quality during use.


The Role and Requirements of Dryer Fabric


The main function of dryer fabric is to guide the wet paper web through the dryer section, improve the contact between the paper web and the dryer, achieve high yield and reduce energy consumption, and endow the paper surface with good properties. This requires the dryer fabric to have sufficient strength, suitable breathability, good dimensional stability, and a smooth mesh surface. With the increase in paper machine speed, the use of recycled pulp, and the large-scale production of special paper, general round yarn dryer fabric and ordinary flat yarn dryer fabric are no longer sufficient for use. The superiority of the new dryer fabric in terms of operational stability, improved paper quality, and extended service life has rapidly expanded its usage in paper machines made of various packaging papers, cultural papers, and specialty papers.


The Structure of Flat Yarn Dryer Fabric

The goal of designing the organizational structure of dryer fabric has always been to have the largest possible contact area with the paper web and the best air permeability. A large contact area can provide better surface performance for the paper web, but it also means there is enough wear area to extend its service life. However, in the design, efforts should be made to avoid reducing the channels for evaporation and moisture emissions, in order to prevent a decrease in drying efficiency.


Double Layer Dryer Fabric


The dryer fabric produced using double-layer organization is the most common type of dryer fabric. The longitudinal section of the double-layer organization fabric is shown in Figure 1. From Figure 1, it can be seen that the organization of the dryer fabric contact paper surface is the same as that of the non-contact paper surface, with a relatively large thickness and a wide range of air permeability. But the types of paper that can be produced by this dryer fabric are limited, and it is mostly used for low-speed, non premium paper making machines. The most commonly used raw material for double layer organizational fabric is circular monofilament.

Single Layer Dryer Fabric

Flat yarn fabric produced using single-layer organization is ideal for drying. Two representative product organizational structures are listed in Figure 2 for the fabric varieties that are hung in front of the department. The dryer fabric produced by single-layer organization has a fine and smooth surface, low air permeability, small thickness, and is easy to clean, which can meet the requirements of the single hanging drying structure of the paper machine drying department for the dryer fabric.

1.5 Layer Dryer Fabric

The flat yarn fabric produced using 1.5-layer structure is one of the main varieties of the new type of mesh. The longitudinal sectional view of its organizational structure is shown in Figure 3. From Figure 3, it can be seen that compared to non-contact paper, the contact paper has a longer warp width and more contact areas. The resulting paper surface is smooth and flat, with light mesh marks, good heat transfer channels, thin thickness, and good dimensional stability. It can be used in various positions of the paper machine dryer section, suitable for the production of various types of paper and paper machines.

Double Warp Dryer Fabric

The flat yarn fabric produced by double warp organization is another major variety of the new dryer fabric, and its longitudinal section of the organizational structure is shown in Figure 4. From Figure 4, it can be seen that the organization of the contact paper surface is the same as that of the non-contact paper surface, and the two sets of warp specifications are the same, making the self generating ring interface and the mesh body homologous. The double warp flat yarn fabric has high strength, multiple breathable channels, and high drying efficiency. Adapt to the production of high fixed quantity paper and high-speed paper machines, especially in the production of packaging paper with the highest usage.
